A full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant position is currently available with Liberty Healthcare at the Riverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta, Maine.
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Liberty Healthcare at the Riverview Psychiatric Center, you will enjoy a wide array of responsibilities. You will be an integral member of the hospital’s medical staff which is comprised of Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants â€" and collaborate with Registered Nurses, Psychologists, Pharmacists and many other clinical and ancillary disciplines.
Your primary responsibilities will involve providing inpatient care to a caseload of approximately ten adults who have serious and persistent mental illness. Specific duties will include:
Conducting mental status examinations and formulating diagnoses
Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to design, implement and manage individualized care plans for each patient
Prescribing appropriate medications, monitoring efficacy and modifying drug regiments as necessary
Referring patients for diagnostic and specialty services as necessary
Planning for the appropriate and safe discharge of hospital patients
Liaising with families, community providers and various stakeholders

The Riverview Psychiatric Center is a 92-bed psychiatric hospital which primarily serves adults who have serious and persistent mental illness along with forensic patients. The Hospital is operated by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Selected members of the hospital medical staff work through a collaborative arrangement with Liberty Healthcare.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:
NPs must hold an active certification through the ANCC as an Adult or Family Psychiatric - Mental Health Practitioner as well as a Federal Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (DEA)
Physician Assistants must be professionally licensed in Maine and have prior mental health experience
Sincere interest in serving adults who have serious and persistent mental illness is a must
