The University of New England ( UNE ) College of Pharmacy is seeking a dynamic and creative tenure-track faculty member to join the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Specifically, we seek outstanding candidates with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Analytical Chemistry, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Microbiology. The position will provide full salary support as well as a start up package to enable the candidate’s research program.

The College of Pharmacy has a strong focus on the education of pharmacists, based upon sound application of research in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is one of two departments housed in the new College of Pharmacy building, located on the UNE Graduate and Professional campus in Portland, Maine.

Candida! tes for this position are expected to advance the teaching, re! search, and service missions in the College, as outlined in the Strategic Plans of the College of Pharmacy ( http://www.une . edu/pharmacy/mission.cfm). The teaching could include participation in a broader initiative related to inter-professional health education ( http://www.une.edu/wchp/ipec/ index.cfm).

The faculty member will join an active group of researchers, presenting an opportunity to build upon the drug discovery and development initiatives at UNE . Within the new College of Pharmacy building there is dedicated laboratory space for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Additional resources to support research at UNE include core facilities: histology/microscopy, genomics, analytics, proteomics, electrophysiology, and molecular biology, as well as a vivarium and BSL -2 laboratories. Current departmental research expertise includes: drug discovery and delivery, pharmacology, physiology, endocrinology, molecular biology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodyna! mics, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, synthetic and analytical chemistry. The successful candidate would also be encouraged to collaborate with research at the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences ( CEN ), an established pain research group that has recently received a $10 million COBRE award to develop novel therapeutics for the treatment of chronic pain and inflammation. The candidate must have a terminal research degree (Ph.D.) and a track record in teaching, research/scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.
