Under supervision from the Director Pharmacy Services and/or Staff Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supervisor performs billing for pharmaceuticals, receives and stocks department supplie! s, prepares medications for prenatal through geriatric in-patients and outpatients. The incumbent is responsible for the training, supervision and evaluation of daily operational tasks performed by technicians and interns. The incumbent must perform all duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. In addition, the incumbent conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital
JOB REQU! IREMENTS:
State of Maine Pharmacy technician license P! harmacy Technician Board Certification. Associate’s degree in related field preferred Sterile Preparation Certification or equivalent. Must have good interpersonal skills as the incumbent deals with a variety of people and departments that utilize pharmacy services. Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision and prioritize work to accomplish assigned tasks. Must be accountable for patient care in employing proper aseptic techniques, accuracy of drug selection, dosage calculations and label preparation. Incumbent has access to confidential patient information.
