Under the general supervision of the Director Pharmacy Services, the Clinical Pharmacist Supervisor is responsible for the training, supervision and evaluation of daily clinica! l tasks performed by the Clinical Pharmacists. While maintaining duties as a Clinical Pharmacist as needed to support staffing, the Supervisor will assist in with inventory control, provide communication to interdisciplinary partners on medication related matters, and manage other aspects of the clinical service provided by the Pharmacy Department. Additionally, the incumbent provides guidance and work verification to Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists. The Pharmacist Supervisor will work closely with the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to manage the flow of the Pharmacy department on a day to day basis.
The incumbent performs all duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & p! rotect the information in accordance with hospital & system po! licies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
State of Maine Licensure as a Pharmacist. Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy and successful accomplishment of State of Maine Board Examination is required to allow licensure as required above. Must have 5 years inpatient acute care experience; part of this 5 years could be the Residency Training. Prior supervisor/management experience preferred. Must be highly accountable for technical expertise as performance directly affects patient care. Proven ability to work collaboratively with the physicia! ns and nursing, and hospital staff. Incumbent has access to highly confidential patient information. Must be able to operate independently and autonomously throughout scope of duties with minimal guidance from Director Pharmacy Services. Must have excellent interpersonal skills as the incumbent deals with physicians, staff and fellow employees on a daily basis. Incumbent must also deal with outside agencies and vendors. Must have good judgment and initiative to make accurate and timely decisions as to appropriateness of prescriptions and communicate as appropriate, while balancing deadlines and changing workloads.
