Description: Mercy Hospital - Maine is currently seeking to employ CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN - PER DIEM right now, this occupation will be assigned in Maine. Under supervision from the Director Pharmacy Services and/or Staff Pharmacist, the Technician performs billing for pharmaceuticals, receives and stocks de! partment supplies, prepares medications for prenatal through geriatric in-patients and outpatients, and completes Medication Reconciliations.

The incumbent performs all duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Current certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Active Ma! ine Licensure through Maine Pharmacy Board as either a Pharmac! y Technician or Pharmacy Intern. Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail or clinic pharmacy setting preferred. Must be able to become proficient in required hospital computer systems. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, as the incumbent deals with a variety of people and departments that utilize pharmacy services. Must be ableto work effectively with a large diverse population including maintaining good relationships between Physician, Pharmacy and Nursing. Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision and prioritize work to accomplish assigned tasks. Must be accountable for patient care in employing proper aseptic techniques, accuracy of drug selection, dosage calculations and label preparation. Uses good judgment in responding to or referring questions by patients and their families, nurses, physicians, and other professional personnel. Consistently demonstrates an ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and choose the appropriate course of a! ction.
