The Department of Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center (MMC) is seeking a BC/BE Psychiatrist to join our Inpatient Medical Psychiatry Unit as a faculty clinician-educator.
This is an inpatient unit of 21 beds special izing in the care of psychiatric patients with neurocognitive and/or medical co-morbidities. As such, there is an emphasis on geriatric psychiatry.
The Interdisciplinary Treatment Team on the unit is well-staffed, comprised of psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists, a medical PA, and others. We embrace a biopsychosocial model of care with focal treatment planning and active involvement of families and caregivers. We strive for continuous quality improvement, and actively nurture a collaborative, supportive, and healthy working environment.
Maine Medical Center has 637 beds and is Northern New England’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. It is also a major teaching partner of Tufts University School of Medicine. It has 18 ACGME accredited residency and fellowship programs, including Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
The Inpatient Medical Psychiatry Unit is a major teaching res ource for the medical center, offering clinical and didactic experiences for psychiatric residents, geriatric medicine fellows and medical students, as well as students of affiliated disciplines.
The inpatient attending will train our residents and students and provide direct clinical care for adults with neuropsychiatric disorders. The attending will receive a faculty appointment to Tufts University School of Medicine, join a progressive Department of Psychiatry, and have access to the full range of educational, administrative, and research opportunities of a robust academic medical center.
