The Clinical Specialist possesses the training and experience to perform clinical pharmacotherapy functions that optimize patient care and improve outcomes. These skills include pharmacokinetics, renal dosing, and management of acute and chronic diseases. The specialist should also be able to facilitate transitions of care and work with other professionals on the patient care team.
Minimum Education/Experience Required: Graduation from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy, PharmD degree required. State of Maine Pharmacy License or eligible for state license. Completion of an PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Minimum of three years of work experience in Ambulatory Care setting. Board Certification in Ambulatory Care preferred.
Other skills required:
- Certification in Medication Therapy Management.
- Ability to perform both clinical and administrative duties, strong leadership and project management skills.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Teaching, precepting and mentoring Pharmacy staff, PGY1 Residents and Pharmacy students
